Cairn Terrier Characteristics
The Cairn Terrier is a lively and cheerful breed that is known to make friends everywhere they go. They are outgoing and tend to enjoy socialising with new people. Their warm nature makes them wonderful family pets.
Belonging to the Terrier group, the Cairn has inherent desires to dig, bark, and chase other dogs and small animals. Their high prey drive typically makes them unsuitable for households with any other dogs or pets. It is recommended to socialise your Cairn Terrier with other animals from a young age to minimise these unwanted protective behaviours.
Despite their smaller size, the Cairn Terrier is an athletic breed and thrives on physically and mentally stimulating activities. They enjoy long walks, hikes, jogging, and various dog sports, including agility and fly ball. While they are quite an energetic breed, they are well-suited to apartment living.
